Fridays with dad

Teaching part time can be a pretty sweet gig when you actually get to enjoy your day off, mine is Friday. For the past few weeks I have either had a teacher work day, training or meeting that have landed on MY day off, but today has been wonderful ♥

One of my favorite things about having Fridays off is hanging out with my dad. My dad is a fascinating man and we always have the most interesting conversations through out the day. I really enjoy hearing stories from when he grew up and the things he did before my brothers, sisters and I were around. I know for a fact that I get my passion for life from my dad. We both enjoy talking about heated issues and controversial topics, and we both get pretty fired up about it. I can tell the things he is really passionate about from the way he talks about them:) I like that we can share moments together.

Another thing about my dad is that he is very talented and always has some little project going that I usually get to help with. For instance, yesterday I was the lucky one who got to help him put together the new ceiling fan:) A chore to some and even to me back when I was younger, but now I think it's kind of fun helping out because we get to chat about the little things.

Today, I asked my dad what his dream job would be. It lead into a conversation about how most jobs these days require you to be a people person, but not in a positive way. Instead of building you up and encouraging you to strive to be the best, people lie, tell you what you want to hear and skirt around the truth. We both agreed that we do don't function well in these jobs for the simple fact that we like to tell it like it is and refuse to use others to get ahead.

Overall, it's been a fabulous day off! Thanks dad for still wanting me around:)
