Um, excuse me. You're in my bubble.

I can honestly not believe that I haven't blogged about this! Today's topic is seriously one of my BIGGEST pet peeves as far as dealing with people goes (and I have more than a few of these...) Why do you think I work with kids? Don't ask me why, but it is so, SO different when dealing with kids than adults. For today...personal space. Specifically my personal space bubble while working out.
I am constantly reminded how much I dislike people who have NO sense of personal space when I attend jazzercise class or any group workout class for that matter. It's border line hilarious. Ok, not really, but it helps to laugh when my personal space is invaded as I'm trying to workout so I don't end up punching, kicking or otherwise letting the invader know that they have gotten too close. Anybody with me on this? You show up for a class, get the perfect spot where you can see and move around enough to sweat your bum off because let's face it, you're there to work hard, only to have somebody squeeze themselves next to you, in front or directly behind you making your space bubble all lopsided. SERIOUSLY!? Every dang time! This.drives.me.BONKERS! I honestly am a magnet for these kind of people that have no understanding of equally spaced 'lines' in a workout class so that everyone can see and has the same amount of room to move. Since I'm not really willing to start shit with strangers I'm potentially going to see on a recurring basis, I bite my tongue and do my best to stay in my space. That's what it seems from an outside perspective anyway, but the point of view I'm experiencing is more like that scene from the Simpsons' episode where Lisa and Bart get into a fight over playing on different ice hockey teams...
Bart: All right. But on my way, I'm going to be doing this...
[windmills his arms] If you get hit, it's your own fault.
Lisa: Okay, then I'm going to start kicking air, like this...
[kicks up her foot] And if any part of you should fill that air...
[kicks up her other foot] It's *your* own fault.
[They shut their eyes and move toward each other, grunting as they flail or kick.} http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0778450/quotes

(You're laughing because you can picture the episode I'm talking about right? :) I'm going to do my workout and if you should happen to get in my space...I can't be responsible for what happens to you :) Ok, I probably wouldn't actually hit or kick anyone, but I'll let you get close enough for you to realize that you are in my bubble lol. In the world of working out with Rachael, you're going to first get a bit of a side dirty look and then I'm just going to keep right on working out and feeling the burn so look out! ;D
P.S. I blame countless years of dance classes from instilling this need for equally spaced lines during workout classes!!
